Prunus Americana - A fruit tree native to Quebec and Canada, the American plum tree pollinates hybrid plum trees of American origin very well and produces sweet fruit with a more tart and astringent skin than European plum trees. On the other hand, it is more resistant to black knot than European plum trees. Our trees are grown from seed.

Plums are harvested from late August to early September.

Habitat

The American plum prefers well-drained, sandy soils, but it can tolerate several soil types. Full sun exposure is preferred.

Size and habit

At maturity, this fruit tree can be 5m tall by 3m wide. The habit and vigor of the trees can vary, as they are seedlings.

Pollination

An ideal pollinator for American and Asian varieties and their crosses, the American plum is self-fertile and essential for maximizing the productivity of a plum orchard. Pollination is carried out by insects.

Source

Our American plum seedlings come from superior Petite-Nation varieties.
