Ure (Pyrus ussuriensis x communis) - Zone 3: This variety, the result of controlled pollination between a Russian pear tree and a European pear tree, produces round, juicy, sweet pears that are excellent for eating fresh or for making compote or dried pears. More hardy than European pear trees, it is also disease resistant and produces a regular crop.

Early Gold (Pyrus ussuriensis X ‘Ure’) - Zone 3: A variety obtained by crossing the ‘Ure’ pear tree with a Russian pear tree, ‘Early Gold’ is very similar to ‘Ure’ and is a good pollinator to accompany it. Short shelf life pear.

Habitat

Manchurian pear trees prefer full sun exposure and well-drained soil. The ideal pH is 6.5, and they can be grown in sandy soil with mulch or in decompressed clay soil.

Size and habit

When mature, this tree reaches 5 to 10m in height and 6m in width. It is possible to pollard its crown to limit its maintenance height.

Pollination

It is self-sterile, so it needs to be accompanied by another Manchurian pear tree of a different variety to produce fruit.

Source

Manchurian pear trees are native to this same region, Northeast Asia.
