Ribes rubrum ‘Red Lake’ - Zone 3: With its abundant clusters of elegant red berries, the ‘Red Lake’ currant is an excellent addition to shady or semi-shady areas of your garden. Ready in July, its tasty, sweet and tart fruits are a must-have for desserts and salads. These berries also make excellent jelly and can be frozen to add a little color to winter.

This small fruit-bearing shrub can be grown in several types of soil, as long as they are well-drained and fertilized. It prefers a sunny exposure, but can also be productive in partial shade. We recommend growing redcurrants in soil with a pH between 6 and 6.5.

At maturity, this fruit tree is 3 to 5 feet tall and a multi-stemmed bush. Its natural habit is more spreading.

Apricot trees are self-fertile, but they benefit from the presence of other apricot trees. Apricot tree flowers are pollinated by insects, so warm, rain-free spring days are necessary for the best harvests. Their abundant fruit production tends to alternate every two or even three years, as their flowers are sensitive to spring frosts.
