- Understanding the physiology of fruit trees
- Introduction to the basic concepts of fruit tree pruning
Why prune: Pruning encourages a healthy plant structure which increases aeration and the amount of sunlight that reaches its fruiting branches. Increased aeration and light then limits the development of disease and insect populations. Following these operations, the tree will have more energy to produce better quality fruit. When the formation and health of the tree is assured, it is possible to use pruning to balance vegetative growth and fruit production in order to concentrate the energy of the plant in fruit production. Ultimately, pruning fruit trees and shrubs increases their life expectancy and maximizes their productivity.
In the event of inclement weather, the training will be rescheduled to the next day (March 24th 2024).
