Kentucky coffeetree (Gymnocladus dioica) - Zone 4

Gymnocladus dioica - A leguminous tree, this ornamental nitrogen-fixer tolerates de-icing salts well and is popular for urban plantings and permaculture. Slow-growing, it will develop into an elegant tree with large, blue-green leaves stretching up to 1m long.

His name comes from settlers who used its roasted seeds to make a substitute for coffee beans.
